New hygiene standards introduced in hospitals
New hygiene standards have been introduced to curb the spread of infection in the country's public hospitals.
The Health Information and Quality Authority has introduced twelve new measures which will cover areas such as hand hygiene, antibiotic resistance, disease control and management.
The body says the results from announced and unannounced inspections will be published.
HIQA's Jon Billings says it's aimed at improving hygiene standards in hospitals.
