17,000 contact HSE National Counselling Service

The HSE says its National Counselling Service has been contacted by more than 17,000 people since the Child Abuse Commission was established 10 years ago.

The HSE says its National Counselling Service has been contacted by more than 17,000 people since the Child Abuse Commission was established 10 years ago.

Three thousand of these people had a history of suffering institutional abuse.

The National Counselling Service offers free counselling to adults who have suffered childhood abuse or neglect.

The service is available at 60 locations around the country and can be accessed on 1800 235 234.
