The family of Swiss teenager Manuela Riedo have set up a foundation for victims of rape and sexual assault across Europe.

The 17-year-old, who had travelled to Galway to study English, was found dead near Lough Atalia in October of 2007.

Earlier this year, Gerald Barry, of Rahoon in Galway, was sentenced to life in prison for her murder.

Her parents are in Dublin today to launch the new foundation established in her name.

Brendan McGuinness, an Irish publican based in Switzerland, helped set up the initiative after being touched by the details of the Riedo case.
