Woman held in connection with Westmeath murder

Gardaí in Co Westmeath have arrested a woman in her 60s in connection with the murder of Brian McGrath more than 20 years ago.

The 43-year-old father-of-four went missing from his home in the village of Coole in March 1987.

His remains were found nearby six years later, but they were only positively identified in November last year.

In February, a 46-year-old man was charged with Mr McGrath's murder.

The woman arrested today is due to appear before Longford District Court later.
