Elderly woman dies in Louth fire

An elderly woman has died following a house fire on the old Dundalk to Ardee Road in Co. Louth this morning.

The blaze broke out at a cottage in the Readypenny area at around 6am.

The victim – who lived alone at the house - is understood to have died at the scene.
