The Environment Minister John Gormley is rejecting reports of a rift in Cabinet over his plans to scrap the e-voting machines.

The Environment Minister John Gormley is rejecting reports of a rift in Cabinet over his plans to scrap the e-voting machines.

Mr Gormley said the Fianna Fáil party welcomed the decision to get rid of the controversial machines, which cost the taxpayer more than €51m over the past 7 years.

According to newspaper reports this morning, the minister made the decision alone.

But Minister Gormley said members of the Cabinet were involved in the process.
