He has been given Tamiflu and is in quarantine at his home where he is said to be recovering well.

Health officials say there are no other probable cases of the virus in this country, but anyone with concerns can contact the freefone helpline on 1800 94 11 00.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people are under quarantine in China in a bid to stop the spread of swine flu.

All passengers on a flight from Mexico are under observation after one of them was admitted to hospital with the virus.

Guests at a hotel in Hong Kong where the 25-year-old stayed are also under quarantine.

Sixteen countries have now reported swine flu cases, with five countries confirming it has been passed from person-to-person.
