Founding member of PDs Pearse Wyse dies aged 81

Tributes are being paid to a founding member of the Progressive Democrats who died today.

Pearse Wyse passed away in hospital in Cork at the age of 81.

He was first elected as a Fianna Fáil TD in 1965 and left the party to join the PDs 20 years later.

Health Minister and former PD leader Mary Harney says he was one of the most highly respected and hardworking public representatives ever elected in Cork.
