Man and woman quizzed over father-of-two's murder

A man and a woman were being questioned today over the murder of a father-of-two who was killed and dumped in a ditch.

Peter Gunn went missing in the early hours of January 4 and his body was found 11 days later at the side of Dunsoghly Lane in The Ward in north county Dublin.

Gardaí in Finglas arrested two people today. A man in his late 20s and a woman in her late teens were detained during raids in the north inner city at about 7.30am.

The pair were being quizzed under section 30 of the Offences Against State Act at Finglas and Cabra Garda Stations.

Mr Gunn died from stab wounds to his chest and back. It is believed the 28-year-old separated father was murdered elsewhere and his body then dumped in Dunsoghly Lane, off the old Finglas to Ashbourne Road.

Gardaí believe Mr Gunn was out in Dublin city centre on January 3 and was last seen in the Summerhill area a few hours later.
