Man seriously assaulted in Belfast

Police in the North are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in west Belfast in the early hours of Friday morning.

The 19-year-old man suffered serious head injuries in the attack which happened in Mount Alverno in the Springfield Road area.

He is said to be in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

Police are trying to establish a motive for the attack and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
