HSE reports improved Waterford cancer services

Cancer services at Waterford Regional Hospital are striving for excellence, according to the area's regional cancer director.

The HSE says the situation has evolved significantly since a HIQA report was carried out on its breast cancer services.

The details of the report, which were leaked yesterday, revealed that the hospital, which is one of the designated centres of excellence, had serious failures.

However consultant surgeon Ian Wilson said the public can rest assured significant progress has since been made.
