The husband of a woman who died following a stabbing at her home was tonight charged with her murder.
Brian Vickers, 42, of Shelmalier Road, East Wall was remanded in custody at Dublin District Court until next week over the death of Joan Vickers.
She was found in the early hours of yesterday morning in the couple’s north-inner-city home. Mr Vickers later walked into Raheny Garda Station to report the crime.
Mrs Vickers, 43, was discovered around 6am and she was rushed to the Mater Hospital but later died.
Gardaí sealed off the house for forensic examinations and her body was taken to the city morgue.
The couple lived close to where mechanic and father of one Aidan O’Kane was gunned down last December.
It is understood Mrs Vickers’ two eldest children – a man in his early 20s and woman in her late teens – had moved out of the family home but she still lived with her two youngest boys, one aged 10 and the other in his mid-teens.
She also had two grandchildren.
Judge Patrick McMahon remanded Mr Vickers in custody to appear before Cloverhill court on Tuesday.
