A mother and her son have escaped unharmed following an arson attack on a house in Belfast early this morning.

A mother and her son have escaped unharmed following an arson attack on a house in Belfast early this morning.

A flammable substance was poured through the letterbox of the house on Walmer Street before being set alight.

A woman in her 30s and her 11-year-old son escaped from the house, which sustained extensive fire damage.

The PSNI is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
