Device damages car

Army bomb experts were called in today after a device blew up under a car in a housing estate.

The incident happened in Mullingar at around 1.30am.

Gardaí rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a loud explosion, cordoned off the area and contacted the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.

The device caused damage to the engine and front of car.

Gardaí said there were no reports of injuries.
