Gang tries to intimidate Hungarian women in Belfast

Police in the North have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the intimidation of four Hungarian women last night.

A crowd of around 30 young men had gathered outside the women's house in the mainly loyalist Village area of south Belfast at around 8am.

Some of the men forced their way into the house, prompting the occupants to hide under a kitchen table until the police arrived.

The incident follows a spate of attacks on Polish people living in the Village area in the wake of the violence that surrounded the recent World Cup qualifier between Poland and Northern Ireland at Windsor Park.

The Polish Community Forum says 40 people have been forced to leave the area because of intimidation.
