A number of streets in north Belfast have been closed off today as police investigate a security alert in the area.

Motorists are being advised to stay away from Castletown Avenue, Danesborough Drive and North Queen Street.

The reason for the security operation has not been disclosed, but it follows a recent upsurge in hoax bomb alerts blamed on dissident republicans.
