Dawn Meats talk to SIPTU about job losses
Management at Dawn Meats were set to meet SIPTU representatives at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) today to discuss job losses at the company’s plant in Midleton, Co Cork.
Up to 130 jobs are to be lost at the factory, with up to 65 lost in the boning hall and 65 agency workers being let go.
A SIPTU spokesman said the union was before the LRC to discuss acceptable redundancy packages and to discuss whether or not employees could be relocated to other factories operated by the Dawn Group.
He confirmed that SIPTU had been told that although the boning hall was going to shut down in Midleton, the future of the factory itself was not under threat.
There was no comment available from the Dawn Group today.
