Funding for transport is to be cut by €315 million, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Funding for transport is to be cut by €315 million, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Half of this will come from capital expenditure on public transport, causing delays in a number of new projects which are still in the planning stages.

The Minister for Transport said work would still continue on these projects, which include the new Metro North in Dublin and the extension of the Luas.

But Minister Noel Dempsey said he is no longer in a position to guarantee a time-scale on these developments.
