Finance Minister Brian Lenihan confirmed this afternoon that the Government has agreed a five-year time-frame with the European Commission to fix Ireland's economic problems.

During his Budget speech this afternoon, the minister announced a plan to strip toxic assets out of banks, with bad debts to be bought by a National Asset Management agency.
