Govt urged to end imprisonment of debt defaulters

Human rights organisations are calling on the Government to end the imprisonment of people who fail to pay their debts.

Every year in Ireland, more than 200 people are jailed for not repaying loans or not paying their bills, a practice which is condemned by the UN.
