Sinn Féin calls for intervention at SR Technics

Sinn Féin has called for immediate Government intervention to save up to 1,100 jobs at aircraft maintenance firm SR-Technics.

It comes as the IDA engages in a last-ditch effort to find a buyer for the Swiss firm's Dublin Airport operations.

It is meeting with at least three interested parties in the coming days.

Some 600 workers were made redundant yesterday, but SIPTU wants their redundancies to be classed as temporary lay offs as the negotiations continue.
