Air accident investigators are trying to establish the cause of a helicopter crash in Co Kildare which claimed the lives of two men on Wednesday evening.

The Schweizer 300, which had taken off from Weston Airport, hit power lines seconds before crashing in Kilmurray Bog during a training flight.

The wreckage was only discovered yesterday evening along with the bodies of a 30-year-old flight instructor from Co Donegal and a 24-year-old trainee pilot from Co Clare.

Investigators are examining the wreckage and the crash site in an effort to determine why the helicopter came down without making any mayday call.
