Mechanical digger driven through home

A couple were left badly shaken after a mechanical digger was deliberately driven through the living room of their home in the North.

The man, 55, and woman, 51, were sitting in the front room of the house in Lurgan, Co Armagh when the digger came crashing through the wall at around 11.45pm last night.

Those responsible for the attack on the Braemar Avenue property then attempted to set the vehicle on fire.

It is understood the house is owned by the couple’s son and they don’t usually stay there.

While they weren’t hurt in the incident, police say they were left badly shaken.

Officers have yet to establish a motive.
