Airport strikes called off

Threatened strike action at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports was called off today as union leaders agreed to new talks.

SIPTU members working at the three airports had planned a stoppage on Thursday in a row with Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) managers over pay rises.

Both sides will sit down with each other tomorrow at the Labour Relations Commission in an attempt to resolve the industrial dispute.

SIPTU called on the DAA to comply with all existing agreements, including those relating to the non-payment of pay increases under the national wage agreement and the non-payment of certain increments.
