Committee established to oppose Garland extradition
A committee has been established to oppose the extradition of veteran socialist and republican Sean Garland to the United States.
US authorities have sought the extradition of the former Workers' Party President, who is 75, on alleged counterfeiting charges.
He is due to appear in court again in May.
The committee is to be chaired by Chris Hudson, a former trade union official with the Communication Workers Union in Dublin.
The Secretary is Tomas Mac Giolla, a former TD for West Dublin, who also served as Lord Mayor of Dublin.
The Committee is to hold its first press conference in the coming days.
