Man rescued from Strangford Lough

A man has been rescued from Strangford Lough in Co. Down this morning after his boat began taking in water.

The alarm was raised just before 6am and the Portaferry RNLI lifeboat launched a rescue operation.

The man who is in his 20s got into difficulty when his boat started to take in water in extreme winds and rough seas near Green Island.

He has been taken to Downpatrick Hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.
