SIPTU says airport strike action not authorised
The president of SIPTU says strike action that could cripple the country's three main airports on Thursday April 2, has not been authorised.
Jack O'Connor has been forced to issue a statement after workers at the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) voted to strike in a row over pay.
Mr O'Connor says the decision to strike next Thursday has not been taken by the union at the appropriate level. However he says the DAA is withholding incremental payments due to SIPTU members.
The DAA runs Dublin, Cork and Shannon Airports.
