Five hundred Irish volunteers have begun work on the latest building blitz by the Niall Mellon Township Trust in South Africa.

Five hundred Irish volunteers have begun work on the latest building blitz by the Niall Mellon Township Trust in South Africa.

The group began work at 5am this morning and hopes to complete 75 houses in a township near Capetown by this weekend.

The Niall Mellon Trust has built more than 11,000 houses in South Africa since 2002.
