Taxi drivers to hold 24-hour stoppage
Taxi drivers are staging a 24-hour stoppage on April 1.
The group 'Taxi Drivers for Change' brought a major convoy of taxis onto the streets of Dublin today for a protest through the capital to the offices of the Commission on Taxi Regulation.
They are calling for a freeze on the issuing of new licences, claiming the industry is flooded and drivers are struggling to make a living.
SIPTU says it will not be supporting the work stoppage but respects the right of drivers to decide for themselves.
