People urged to drink responsibly today

People are being urged to take personal responsibility for their drinking to ensure a safe St Patrick's Day today.

MEAS, the group that promotes responsible alcohol consumption, is calling on revellers to avoid excessive drinking.

Research carried out for MEAS, the alcohol social responsibility organisation behind drinkaware.ie, also shows that eight out of 10 people believe that being drunk in public is becoming less acceptable.
