The North's First and Deputy First Minister have made a show of unity following the killing of a PSNI officer by dissident republicans in Co Armagh last night.

Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness made a joint appearance today to condemn the murder of Constable Stephen Paul Carroll in Craigavon.

The Continuity IRA has claimed responsibility for the attack on the 48-year-old married father.

Mr McGuinness said today that both Sinn Féin and the DUP would not allow dissidents to harm the peace process, saying their actions were futile.

Mr Robinson, meanwhile, said the whole community in the North was united against such groups.
