Missing woman's body found in river

A police investigation was launched today after the body of a missing Co Derry woman was recovered from the River Bann.

Mary Patricia Dunne, 21, had been missing from her home at Union Street in Coleraine since early February, said police.

Her body was discovered in the river near the town by members of the Bann Rescue team at lunchtime.

A PSNI spokesman said police in Coleraine were investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

A post mortem examination is to be carried out to determine how she died.

Ms Dunne was last seen in Coleraine’s Bridge Street in the middle of the afternoon on Saturday February 7.
