Opposition urged to contribute to mini-Budget

Opposition parties and social partners may have a major input into an emergency mini-Budget being planned for early April, the Taoiseach said today.

But Brian Cowen warned that forthcoming tax hikes and spending cuts “will not be painless” but must be introduced to stabilise the public finances.
