Exchequer returns show new shortfall of more than €2bn

Department of Finance figures released this afternoon show the country has sunk another €2bn into the red.

Exchequer Returns for the first two months show the Government took in just less than €5.8bn, compared to a tax take of almost €7.6bn at the same stage last year.
