Hanafin: 'Govt has no plans for early budget'
Social and Family Affairs Minister Mary Hanafin has reiterated that the Government has no plans to introduce an emergency budget to tackle the economic crisis.
Ms Hanafin was speaking after a group representing accounts around the country added its voice to calls for a new budget in light of the ongoing deterioration in the public finances.
The Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies in Ireland says measures announced in last October's budget are no longer appropriate because they are based on overly optimistic revenue projections.
Ms Hanafin says the Government has "absolutely no plans" to introduce another budget until the end of this year, but said the situation would be kept under review.
