Bomb made safe at Galway garda station
Army bomb disposal experts made safe a viable improvised explosive device (IED) this evening at Millstreet garda station, Galway.
The IED was found during the search of a man arrested earlier today and found on his person in the station. The team arrived at approx. 8.30pm following a Garda request to attend.
The IED did contain explosive content, but no controlled explosion was carried out. The bomb disposal officer gave the all clear at around 9.10pm.
The remains of the device were taken away for further examination and will be handed over to gardaà for forensic examination during the weekend.
