IBEC calls for agreement on economic recovery plan
Employers' group IBEC is calling on the Government, opposition parties and the social partners to agree on a national economic recovery plan.
It wants to see stability in the banking sector; an early mini-budget to bring the public finances back on track, and measures to help prevent further job losses.
IBEC Director General Turlough O’Sullivan said: "We cannot further postpone implementing necessary measures to address the economic crisis. The main opposition parties have indicated that they favour a consensus on what needs to be done. They should be taken at their word.
"The time for action is now. Any further delay is simply not acceptable."
The group said it is prepared to engage positively with the Government and interested parties to restore economic confidence.
