Harkin to give up teacher and Dáil pension

Independent MEP Marian Harkin has announced her intention to give up her combined teacher and Dáil pension.

Ms Harkin says she has made the decision in light of the current financial and economic situation.

The pension would amount to around €3,500 per month.
