Head of An Post to discuss future of company

The head of An Post is to appear before the Oireachtas Communications Committee this morning.

The committee wants to examine how the company may be affected by the current economic crisis.

It's reported that there's been a surge in people depositing money with An Post due to the turmoil in the banking sector.

Chief Executive Donal Connell has been asked to outline the company's plans for the future and discuss proposals to improve the quality and efficiency of the service throughout the country.
