Many young adults not registered to vote

Almost 30% of young people aged between 18 and 25 are not registered to vote, according to a survey by the National Youth Council.

The research has also found that just one-fifth of young people have ever had personal communication with their local TD or councillor.

The Youth Council says respondents to the survey identified online voting and automatic registration as the most effective ways of boosting voter participation.
