O'Keeffe: Fees will create equal opportunities

The Education Minister Batt O'Keeffe has said that the re-introduction of third level fees will create equal opportunities for everyone who wishes to go to college or university.

He's due to present a report on the issue to the Cabinet in April.

However, the proposal has been slammed by third-level students across the country.

A mass demonstration was held in Dublin on Wednesday while students at CIT carried a coffin to symbolise the death of education.

Their message to Mr O'Keeffe was that they will not take this issue lying down.
