Almost 200 passengers and crew have finally been removed from a Belfast-Stranraer ferry that was unable to dock yesterday after a lorry crashed through the rear doors.

The fire service used a lifting platform to remove 156 passengers and 33 crew members from the vessel last night.

The ferry was on route to Belfast on Wednesday evening when the lorry crashed through the rear door.

The vessel returned to Stranraer with the vehicle hanging from the back, but was unable to dock until a crane could be brought in to remove the truck.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
