ICTU leadership approves framework economic plan
The leadership of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions has approved framework proposals for addressing the crisis in the Irish economy.
The document is believed to accept that €2bn in public spending will have to be cut this year.
It also reportedly accepts that all sectors of society will have to bear a fair share of the hardship needed to promote economic recovery.
ICTU's approval paves the way for further talks with the Government this afternoon about how to achieve the €2bn in spending cuts.
