Nigerian woman to take challenge against deportation to Supreme Court

Nigerian woman Pamela Izevbekhai will go to the Supreme Court with her challenge aimed at preventing her and her two daughters' deportation.

Earlier today, she lost yet another High Court bid aimed at overturning a decision last year by the Justice Minister not to grant her family subsidiary protection on humanitarian grounds.

Mr Justice Brian McGovern dismissed their action, stating that the information they submitted last year was not new, and that the minister's decision therefore was not irrational.

Amnesty International Ireland criticised the ruling, saying that Pamela and her children had been denied a fair hearing.

Pamela and her daughters will not be deported pending a decision by the European courts in relation to their case.
