Youth Council in new campaign to reduce voting age
The National Youth Council is mounting a new campaign calling for teenagers as young as 16 to be allowed vote in the forthcoming local and European elections.
The council says most young people are interested in political issues and should be allowed have a say in decisions that affect them.
It says 16-year-olds can pay taxes, get married, work full-time and leave school, so they should also be allowed to elect their political representatives.
