A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car early today, gardaí said.

A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car early today, gardaí said.

The 30-year-old victim was walking in Mullaghhay, Carolanstown, Kells, Co Meath, when the accident happened.

Investigating officers said the collision occurred on the road between Cassidy’s Cross and Kells at around 5am.

The road was closed so a forensic examination of the scene could be carried out. Gardaí at Kells Garda Station are investigating.
