Two unarmed gardaí foiled an attempted gangland shooting when they tackled two men armed with a loaded revolver, it emerged today.

Garda sources said the arrests in Clonshaugh, north Dublin, were directly linked to the long-running Sheriff Street feud, which has already claimed the lives of four people in the capital.
