Motorists urged to take care on roads as storms forecast

Motorists are being warned to take extra care on the country's roads today after Met Éireann issued a severe weather alert.

Extremely stormy weather is forecast throughout the day, coupled with high winds and heavy rain.

The west of the country will be the worst hit.

Motorists in Connacht, west Munster and west Ulster are advised to avoid exposed coastal areas and high ground if possible.
