The Israeli and Palestinian ambassadors to Ireland are due to appear before the Oireachtas committee on foreign affairs today to answer questions about the Gaza conflict.

Israel Ambassador Zion Evrony is expected to face tough questions about the civilian death toll during his country's 17-day bombardment of the densley populated Palestinian territory.

Palestinian Ambassador Hikmat Ajjuri will also be questioned about his views on the hostilities.

Dr Ajjuri is a representative of the Fatah movement and is not linked to Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip.

Members of the Irish-Palestine Solidarity Group are planning a demonstration outside Leinster House ahead of the committee meeting.
