Police in the North are investigating an armed robbery in Portadown during which a priest was tied up and threatened with knives.

The priest, who is in his 50s, was robbed of a substantial sum in charity donations and parish wages at the parochial house attached to St John's Church on the Garvaghy Road.

The priest later freed himself and raised the alarm.

The PSNI is appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.
